Carola Ortner

Head roaster Carola, relocated to the UK in 2014 after years spent working in specialty coffee in Germany. A self confessed perfectionist, Carola is as meticulous in her study of coffee as she is in the practical skill of roasting it. Having already gained plaudits for her roast profiles, we expect Carola to be an award winning roast master.

Rick Curtis

Pharmacie director Rick has managed some of the finest restaurants and bars in Brighton & Hove. Having lived in Portland, Oregon, Rick brought the idea of a 'Third Wave' coffee house to Brighton & Hove in 2009 in the shape of Ground Coffeehouse, still thriving in Kemptown and Lewes. Six years later Pharmacie Coffee Roasters was born; a fiercely independent, ethical supplier of finely roasted coffee and equipment, with emphasis on customer service.




Tash Murphy

Pharmacie manager and creative designer. After years of freelance illustration and managing coffee counters, Tash is passionate about creating a beautiful space which focuses on excellent hospitality, great produce & even better atmosphere. A lover of good food and single origin filter coffee, Tash is super pleased to offer a range of manual brews at the bar to compliment our Scandinavian inspired menu.

Jon Waller

Coffee trainer Jon uses his years of barista experience to keep our staff and customers up to date with their coffee knowledge. An enthusiastic and sympathetic teacher, Jon is able to communicate some pretty complex science without patronising or speaking over peoples' heads. Whether it's basic espresso skills, machine maintenance, latte art, or manual brew recipes, Jon has us covered.
